Relaxation, Cayman Style

On an early morning drive I spotted a few relaxing situations; A kite surfer, an iguana and a beautiful landscape with the Cayman Castle.

Cayman Fashion Solstice 2011 Video

You may have seen my images from the fashion Solstice. If you didn’t, you can view the post here.

I was asked to capture not only the typical runway images, but to focus more on the backstage action, the girls getting their hair done and the hustle and bustle of the models getting runway ready.

I felt this would be an awesome opportunity to also capture video of this event. So I brought along two HD cameras with intentions of shooting a few short clips, I was thrilled when I began the edit process and found I had enough footage to put together a short piece.

I hope you enjoy…

A huge thanks to Rebecca Davidson and Gary Hollins for assisting me.

Cayman Fashion Solstice

Cayman Fashion Solstice, in its second year, took over the Cayman Islands this October and wrapped up the weekend with an amazing finale at the ARC in Camana Bay. The runway event featured local and international designers and models from the Cayman Islands, NYC, the UK, Europe and other areas within the Caribbean.
It was a glamorous night to say the least, all for a great cause too. Proceeds where directed to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands (BBBS).

“Since 1984, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands (BBBS) has been developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people. BBBS is a not for profit organisation and our mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported one-on-one relationships with mentors. Our vision is successful mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them, contributing to brighter futures, better schools and stronger communities.”

One of the events sponsors was Rock Gorgeous Hair, they’re a very fashion forward salon located in the Coconut Plaza, 7 Mile Beach, Grand Cayman. They asked me to photograph the event, capturing not only the typical runway images, but with a focus on the backstage and behind the scenes action as well.

A very special thanks to Rebecca Davidson for assisting me backstage and to Rock Gorgeous Hair.

Public Beach – Seven Mile Beach – Grand Cayman

I rarely take a snap of the sunsets here on Grand Cayman without some sort of subject in front of it. Today, a few kayakers and some very talented beach volleyball players.

Public Beach – West Bay – Grand Cayman

The dock at the West Bay Public beach is a popular spot for locals as it’s a very quiet little nook at the very end of Seven Mile Beach. It’s got lush shade trees, cabanas for family gatherings and a massive dock mostly used for fishing and dive boats. I drove by this beach the day after we experienced a tropical storm and couldn’t believe the wreckage.
